kick off...

Happy Birthday to 1 of my favorite fellas.Ben's birthday always kicks off the Burns Birthday Bash. 4 out of 5 of us celebrate within a month :) Ben turned 31 on the 20th. We brought a fun cake to work for him. The only thing you couldn't eat was the cup. The french fries were even cake. hahaha I am so thankful for Ben and for the gift of growing old with him.

who else could I laugh with about things that happened when I was five?
who else could understand the heartaches that have happened in my life?
who else could I call my best friend even during a fight?
my sister....

thankful for my biff. (I always tell her having a sister means you have a built in bff)

The 4th

We enjoyed swimming at the g-mas house, doing canon balls, belly flops, swimming with flippers, sparklers, and a cookout.

Happy Birthday

My niece and nephew both celebrate their birthdays in June. Nathan turned 7 (he is one of the most hilarious, tender, adorable kids you could ever meet!)

Julia turned 15! I can't believe she is 15. I was 14 when she was born. She was the first baby I was ever around. The first diaper I ever changed. The first great grand child in the family. She was and still is adorable and star in our family.

I didn't get a picture with Nathan. Their party was so awesome. My sister (who happens to throw the best parties ever) had gamin ride come to the neighborhood. I couldn't catch Nathan long enough for a picture. hahaha

I love them both and am so proud to be their auntie!

a boy and his turtle

I truly wish we had a pet dog. Really, I do. But since I am allergic to them...it ain't happen'n.

We do have a cat...but he is such a bore. So a couple of weeks ago I spotted a turtle on one of my evening walks. Grady named him Blaze and we were going to keep him around for a few days. Ben apparently missed that part of the conversation and let him go.

So...for the past 2 weeks we have been keeping our eyes open for another turtle. Ben spotted this lil' guy on his way to work one morning. He was such a good Dad and picked it up and brought it home. (I guess I should have told you that the boys cried and cried and then cried some more when the first turtle was set free by their Dad)
Look at that face people....holding a turtle is serious business. I am pretty sure this turtle isn't the same turtle from a couple of weeks ago (Blaze). The boys think it is the same turtle, but decided to rename him Squirtal.

This is when we told them he would have to be set free. I tried to explain we can't properly take care of him and I am sure he had a Mommy and Daddy that missed him. Benjamin totally lost it. He was a mess. I asked him to pause the crying and say cheese.
